We introduced our Original Fleece Pouch design in the fall of 1999, when our 2nd child was 6 months old. Others have tried to mimic our design from time to time, but our long-standing reputation with families around the world speaks volumes. Our high referral rate and large number of repeat customers prove that our quality and customer service are the best there is!
Shortly after the birth of our 3rd child, in August, 2002, we introduced a new style of Fleece Pouch. Rather than our previously serged edges, all the edges on our new pouches are bound with soft nylon lycra binding for a professional, sporty look. Soft gentleness on your baby's legs!
In the summer of 2003, we began offering Cotton Pouches for our customers who live in warmer climates and cannot tolerate the fleece. By 2005, we had added Solarveil Pouches and in the spring of 2006, Mesh Pouches became the newest addition to our Pouch family.
Our pouches are snug, yet not constricting, so you are easily able to hold your child and have two hands free to accomplish almost any task.
All pouches come standard with 4 rows of snaps for easy adjusting. Most are easily machine washable and dryable (with the exception of the Cotton Pouches) without any bulky padding. The snaps are durable 100% Nylon.
Safety
Your baby's safety is very important to us. In the unlikely event the snaps would fail on your pouch, our pouches are designed to remain attached and will simply loosen to the loosest adjustment level.
Dominance/Shoulder
When placing your order, you are required to select what arm is your dominant arm. If you are right-handed (vice versa if you are left-handed), you should order a right-snapped pouch. For more information on why, please read below.
For the cradle carry, kangaroo carry and tummy position (basically, for the first 6 months of your baby's life), you can wear your pouch on either of your shoulders without it making a bit of difference. The snaps will be located in the middle of your back regardless.
Once your baby is being worn primarily on your hip (around 5-6 months), you will experience maximum comfort if the sling is worn on the shoulder it was originally snapped for (e.g. worn on the right shoulder if you are right-handed). The pouch will still function fine on either shoulder, however, should you prefer to wear it on the opposite shoulder.
Most people, when NOT using a sling, carry baby using their dominant arm because it's stronger. However, when the sling is carrying baby's weight, you need to decide what arm you want to have free to do other things. Most right-handed people wear babies on their left hip, allowing their right arm to be free to do other things - this means the pouch is worn on your right shoulder.
